Having been bitten by the travel bug a bit as of late, I've cast around for more timelapse videos to share, as a sequel to this previous post.
Each of these, to varying extents, tries to distill the central personality of a place, via environment, architecture, or just human movement displayed over time. Musical accompaniment lends another, cultural, wholly subjective dimension to the video footage, that can enhance or detract to varying degrees. Personally, my tastes tend to run to ambient and otherwise "modern" music anyhow; but I tend to think such sounds (and I'm grossly generalizing here), made of gradual changes and layering of rhythms, compliments footage of subtle physical and environmental shifts rather naturally.
Maybe what all this means is that it's time for me to pick up my camera and start making.
Above: Hobart, Tasmania (with Kruder & Dorfmeister soundtrack!); Dubai; atmospheric Edinburgh; Istanbul; Barcelona; Berlin; Cincinnati; Sydney. If you know of others, send them my way.
