Designed by the British Council's in-house architectural studio, the international cultural relations organization's new offices in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa marry two cultures, using the material language of one to express the identity of the other. The result is beguiling and expressive.
According to Emma Vergette, Head of Architecture at the British Council, the building "project[s] an image of contemporary UK, but [we] have used the city of Addis Ababa as the source of reference for its architectural language."
