CitID seeks to establish a typeface for each city in the world, bringing "global consciousness" to cities, regardless of whether they're "big or small, rich or poor, famous or infamous, well-known or unheard-of." So far the site has over 150 submissions.
What an awesome project! The diversity of current submissions on CitID's website is fun to behold. encompassing a motley set of places both big and small. The project's ultimate aim? Creation of a "global visual anthology of city identities."
Just a handful of many: Oslo, Norway; Raleigh, North Carolina; Cairo, Egypt; Providence, Rhode Island (where I live); Vilnius, Lithuania; and Johannesburg, South Africa.
